Vegvsir, also known as the Runic compass or the Viking Compass, is a magical navigational symbol. The Huld Manuscript only records the symbolic significance of the Vegvisir as a symbol intended to aid the bearer in navigating through winds, heavy seas, and similar weathers such as heavy snow.

The Futhark Runes are a mysterious alphabet that Vikings used to name places and objects, to attract luck and fortune, to provide protection, and to magically divine the direction of future events. Stone, wood, and objects were used to carve runes (including jewelry, amulets, tools, weapons, and runestones).
